Android Users: See Charging Mistakes Most Of Us Make, And It’s High Time We Stop Them
1. Letting the battery completely drain before you charge it.
As stated in the introductory paragraph, most phones now come with batteries primarily composed of Lithium. And, this batteries are not supposed to die before charging them.
Note that letting the battery get to 0% before charging means you are gradually reducing the lifespan of the battery.
2. Charging and using the phone simultaneously.
Firstly, operating and charging a phone at the same time means you are in overstressing the battery i.e you are doing two tasks at once.
Secondly, if a call enters while you’re charging, always remember to remove the charger from the phone before answering the call.
3. Charging the phone up to 100%.
You are indirectly reducing the lifespan of the battery by doing this. The composition or make up of the battery is such that they have a specific number of cycle. So, when you charge the battery to 100%, the cycles are reduced which in turn reduces the longevity of the battery.
However, it is advisable to charge your phone battery up to 100% just one in a month(30days) , and them (20-80)% on other days.
4. Leaving your phone to charge overnight.
Apart from the fact that you’re wasting your electricity (meter), charging the phone all through the night will destroy the battery charging cycles.
Another point is that charging the phone overnight can lead to overheating of the phone.
So, resist the urge to charge it overnight.
5. Charging with the phone case on.
You must remove the phone casing before charging, and the reason for that is to allow ventilation. A point worth noting is that batteries do not like heat, therefore, charging the phone with the casing will only add unwanted heat which can lead to damage of the battery and even internal parts of the phone.
6. Charging your phone with a laptop.
As we all know, charging your phone with laptops usually take longer duration of time to get full and besides that, the battery drains faster. From my personal experience, charging your phone with a laptop will reduce the lifespan of both the laptop and phone battery respectively.
7. Charging the phone when the battery is more than 20%.
I know that we all feel the urge to charge at every opportunity, but know that doing this will not make your battery last longer.
The best percentage yo charge your phone is when they are below 20%, although, I recommend that they should be above 5% i.e (5- 30)%.
