Galaxy S20 FE still facing touchscreen issues even after three patch updates!

Back in September, Samsung launched its Galaxy S20 FE or Fan Edition in both 4G and 5G variants for its consumers worldwide. The device managed to garner a lot of attention and hype largely due to an affordable price tag. Even though the price was more on the cheaper side, the device didn’t make any significant compromises. Due to the same, Galaxy S20 FE managed to become a value for money option from the brand. Furthermore, it was sitting right in the perfect spot between the original Galaxy S20 and the S20 Plus.

While the S20 FE is indeed a solid option, various users started reporting a major touch screen problem. For some reason, the display stops responding or reads input by mistake. Furthermore, there is some jittery scroll animation as well. In some cases, users had to force reboot the smartphone to fix the screen issues. In order to fix the touchscreen issue, Samsung has already rolled out three consecutive updates to the Galaxy S20 FE in the past couple of weeks.

The first update rolled out in the third week of October with the firmware version G78xxXXU1ATJ1. Soon after, Samsung brought the G78xxXXU1ATJ5 firmware version. With both the updates, Samsung tried improving the touchscreen responsiveness of the device. The brand has now rolled out the third update and unsurprisingly, the device is still facing the touchscreen issue.

Samsung has now started seeding a new patch update to the Galaxy S20 FE. The third consecutive update also aims to fix the touchscreen issue. It carries the firmware version G781BXXU1ATK1 and also packs the latest November 2020 Android security patch. While the update doesn’t really fix the touchscreen issue completely, it does manage to get few things right. With the third update, the zoom-induced stuttering is almost gone. This means that the touchscreen issue should be gone completely in the next coming updates.

As of now, the new update is currently rolling out only to select Snapdragon variants. With that said, it should hit more devices and regions in the coming days. You should get the update notification if your device falls under the initial rollout. Alternatively, you can also check for the same manually by heading over to Settings>>Software Update>>Download and Install. Since it is a patch update, it weighs around 202MB in size.
