Mediatek’s rapid growth in 2020 is from its comprehensive progress in smartphones, tablets, routers, smart TVs, and other fields. Among them, the smartphone business is the most eye-catching. At the same meeting, the company also unveiled the Dimenity 700, the latest member of the Dimensity series. It supports carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA) and 5G dual card dual standby (DSDS). It also offers faster as well as clearer 5G VoNR voice services. Dimensity 700 uses an eight-core CPU architecture, including two large-core ARM Cortex-A76, with a main frequency of up to 2.2GHz.
MediaTek expects to expand its 5G chip portfolio
Since the release of Dimensity 1000 last year, MediaTek has built a comprehensive 5G chip portfolio. It has become a strong competitor in the market. Especially facing the complex international, political and economic situation, the value of MediaTek has become more prominent. Dr. Xu Jingquan, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek and General Manager of Wireless Communications Division, revealed that it is expected to ship more than 45 million sets of Dimensity series chips in 2020. Its chips will ship to North America, Europe, the Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The company also expects to add South America and Africa in 2021.
