Redmi will officially release the new Redmi K40 series next month. This smartphone comes with a 4000 mAh battery and it has a 2,999 yuan ($464) starting price. Today, the latest report regarding this phone claims that it may use the smallest punch-hole in the world. According to @DigitalChatStation, the Redmi K40 will come with a 2.8mm ultra-small aperture screen. If there is no change, this will be the smallest punch-hole in the industry.
Redmi K40 speculations
According to @DigitalChatStation, this new Redmi series will adopt a 120Hz OLED full screen. Furthermore, Lu Weibing and Wang Teng confirmed that the K40 display may be the most expensive straight screen in the industry. However, this device will also be on top as a “cost-effective device”.
We know that Redmi K30 Pro uses a pop-up full screen, a design that is not very common with 5G devices. One of its down points is the use of a 60Hz refresh rate straight screen. Well, it appears that Redmi will not make the same mistake on the K40 series. The step-up from 60Hz to 120Hz is obviously a huge leap. The overall quality of this display will be top-notch, at least that’s what we expect. In other respects, the Redmi K40 screen is also expected to use an OLED display made of Samsung E4 luminescent materials. This phone will also come with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash memory.
In terms of its processor, there are speculations that the Redmi K40 is already confirmed to come with the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC. However, there will be a special version with a different chip. If this version uses the recently released Snapdragon 870, it should be cheaper.
Yesterday afternoon, MediaTek officially released the Dimensity 1200 chip, using TSMC’s 6nm process. According to Redmi’s general manager, Lu Weibing, Redmi will premier this processor. However, there is no mention of the phone that will use this chip.
Redmi K40 battery can last for over 35 hours – Lu Weibing reveals
Xiaomi Group Vice President and Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing, continues to warm up the Redmi K40 series. Recently, his Weibo post shows a screenshot that details the battery performance of this phone. From the image, we can see that the Redmi K40 still have 64% of the power after 10.5 hours of continuous use. In addition, the MIUI system forecast shows that the device will still last for 25 hours with the remaining 64%. This means that the K40 can last for 35.5 hours of continuous use.
However, Lu Weibing did not disclose the condition of use. That is, whether it is 10 hours of normal use, 10 hours of moderate use, 10 hours of standby, or 10 hours of power-saving mode. Nevertheless, the bottom line here is that the Redmi K40 will come with a pretty good battery. Also, the screenshot shows that the resolution of this device is 2400 x 1080.
