What is the Galaxy SmartTag? Well, it is just an item tracker. But with the integration of Samsung’s software, it becomes much more practical. The trackers connect to your device via Bluetooth connection. You can attach the SmartTag to your belongings that you don’t want to lose. For example, you have a pet and you don’t want to take the chance of losing him because you left the door open. Hence, you can use the SmartTag. You can attach it to your pet’s collar and you can track him via Samsung’s SmartThings app Find if he goes missing.
You can also use it on your bag or keychains. The SmartTag is priced at $29.99. It will be available from January 29th. Samsung is also giving the SmartTag for free on the pre-orders of the Galaxy S21 lineup. There is also an advanced version of the SmartTag. It is called SmartTag Plus. Unlike, SmartTag it can give you a much more precise location of your item.
The SmartTag Plus uses ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless technology that will be more useful than Bluetooth for tracking an item. So how is it precise? Well, it can link to an AR tracker app that creates a 3D space. So it will become easier to find that product on a 3D space as compared to a map on the normal SmartTag. Yes, it does cost more. You can either buy it separately or a bundle of two. Galaxy SmartTag Plus starts at $39.99. While the bundle of two SmartTag Plus will cost you $69.99. The SmartTag Plus will be out later this year.
Now let’s talk about the eco-system that I mentioned at the beginning of the article. As you may know, companies launch smartphones, wireless earbuds, laptops, and more. This makes an ecosystem. The more the things to offer, the better an ecosystem it makes. It is not just about the number of products but also the software integration between them. Hence, these products play an essential part in a company. What do you think about the SmartTag and SmartTag Plus? Do let us know in the comments section below!
