Many people are asking Twitter to frequently upgrade its features. Twitter is doing the best it can now to do just that. But there are few issues preventing the social media giant from acting fast enough. A few hours ago, the tech company noted that its feature borrowed from Snapchat Stories is not coming as soon as it promised users. It will take a few more days before they can get it. Slowing down Fleets is important as a few technical issues regarding it have to be solved first.
In a tweet, the company reveals that it is “slowing down the rollout of Fleets to fix some performance and stability problems. If you don’t have the feature yet, you may not get it for a few more days.” The tweet also confirms the happiness the management has that so many people are using Fleets and they want to make sure that they’re giving users the best experience, while they make use of Fleets.
Fleets are used to share ephemeral content just like people are clearly doing on Snap[chat. After some users started to complain about the hindrance to using Fleets, Twitter management also confirmed that it was lagging and at times it caused the Twitter app to crash.
Fleets posts appear at the top of timelines on Twitter’s iOS and Android apps. To see the Fleets, one has to tap on the users’ avatars. It is impossible to retweet, like, or publicly reply to Fleets. To react, the user will have to post an emoji(s) or reply through direct messaging.
On November 17, Fleets started appearing for everyone with iOS or Android devices that have the Twitter apps downloaded. After they have been posted, Fleets disappear after 24 like statuses on WhatsApp. Another feature that users are begging for is the ability to edit posts. It is available on Facebook. There are people who are getting tired that all social media platforms want to morph into the same thing.
