watchOS 7.3 update introduces ECG in more countries

Apple is a leading company in the market of premium smartwatches. Apart from distinct design and hardware, the Apple Watch also has one of the best software for smartwatches that is currently available in the market. Google failed to offer a fully-capable software solution to compete with watchOS. This has been forcing companies to provide their own Operating Systems. Unfortunately, none of these operating systems offer a complete experience like watchOS. Today, Apple is delivering a new update to give even more strength to watchOS. The new update dubbed watchOS 7.3 brings a new Unity watch face collection that pays homage to the Pan-African flag which ties in with Apple’s Black History Month initiatives.

Furthermore, watchOS 7.3 unlocks the electrocardiogram (ECG) and irregular heart rate rhythm features for Apple Watch Series 4 in Japan, Mayotte, the Philippines, and Thailand. The new update will also introduce the Time to Walk feature for Apple Fitness+ subscribers. The update also includes performance enhancements and bug fixes for Control Center and Notification Center. For now, it’s impossible to state if this update will be the last before watchOS 8, but it’s a good step before the next big update.

• Time to Walk for Apple Fitness+ subscribers – an audio experience in the Workout app where guests share inspiring stories as you walk.
• ECG app on Apple Watch Series 4 or later in Japan, Mayotte, Philippines, and Thailand.
• Irregular heart rhythm notifications in Japan, Mayotte, Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand.
• Fix for an issue where Control Center and Notification Center may be unresponsive when Zoom is enabled.

The next Apple Watch will come with a blood sugar monitor

For now, we can say which are the most anticipated features for the incoming watchOS 8 update. However, the next range of smartwatches is set to introduce important features like blood sugar monitors. For that reason, we believe that the new software will introduce a new UI on its health-centric apps for using this feature. Apple has obtained a patent on blood glucose monitoring. The company is committed to “ensure technical reliability and stability before commercialization”. The industry believes that the optical sensor from Apple can achieve continuous monitoring without the need for an implant.

This particular feature will be the second big add-on to come since the ECG sensor.
