Back in the last month, Xiaomi introduced MIUI 12.5 software as an incremental update over the vanilla MIUI 12. It also serves as a step before the incoming MIUI 13 branch. Most of the handsets are expected to get the long-waited Android 11 underhood update alongside the MIUI 12.5 firmware. For now, this does not seems to be the case with the Mi Note 10 Lite. The device is receiving Android 11 updates in certain regions, however, it still carries MIUI 12 branch.
MIUI 126.96.36.199 based on Android 11 arrives for Mi Note 10 Lite
The new firmware update has 2.3GB in size. So you need to make sure you have enough storage before downloading the new firmware. After all, storage isn’t plenty in this handset that lacks a microSD card slot. The update brings the whole set of goodies introduced with Android 11 like one-time app permissions and chat bubbles. However, it also brings a set of bug fixes, system enhancements, and a January 2020 security patch.
The Mi Note 10 Lite is available in global markets for that reason, we expect the update to cover all eligible units in all regions over the course of the next few days. The firmware carries MIUI 188.8.131.52.RFNMIXM build number. It’s recommended to make a backup of your data before installing the update. Apparently, there are some compatibility issues with some applications. This can be fixed by performing a factory reset. If you have a proper backup made before this process, you can easily restore your device after resetting it. However, If you don’t notice lags or issues, you can easily keep your device without a reset.
The update is reaching global units right now, however, more regions may follow in the coming days. So stay tuned.
